#13European Summer Style guide and let's talk about capsule wardrobe.
It's time to celebrate the sun and the heat with style and elegance (and accessories). And when it comes to capsule wardrobe, do you really need it?
Hi, my dear!
With the arrival of the European summer, it's time to celebrate the sun and the heat with style and elegance - even if, like me, you live in London and the sun doesn't come out that much (laughs). There's nothing better than head accessories to enrich our outfits without taking up much space in our suitcases.
Today, I'm bringing you inspirations and tips on how to wear headpieces (I'm in love with the half-moon model, by the way) and wide-brimmed hats with vintage bows, perfect for any occasion, whether on the beach or travelling inland. Shall we take a look?
1. Padded Half Moon Headband
Coastal style: Combine a half-moon headband in linen or cotton fabric with a light, flowing dress for a super romantic look or with more structured or artsy pieces to break up the romanticism with drama.
Opt for light neutrals or pastels for a sophisticated, fresh look. Complete with a raffia bag and flat sandals.
Special occasion: headbands complement festive looks with sophistication and a modern Renaissance touch. I like the velvet or embroidered versions for the occasion.
2. Wide brimmed hats with or without ribbons
Beach style: A wide-brimmed straw hat is an essential sun protection classic. Pair it with a high-waisted swimsuit or bikini, oversized sunglasses and a kimono-style beach cover-up for a fashionable and timeless look.
In the city, the French-inspired combination of jeans + T-shirt + trainers + straw hat is a trick you can't go wrong with. Agree? But you can also replace the trainers with trainers and the trousers with a midi skirt that fits at the waist.
Not to be too obvious, but I like to mix vintage pieces with more modern ones to create an authentic look full of personality. A waistcoat or blazer with shoulder pads can be worn with linen shorts and 1970s sunglasses.
3. WHERE TO BUY
1 - wide hat with ribbon 2 - peach headband 3- straw hat 4 - Foldable pastel hat
4 - Limmoncello headband 5 - blue velvet headband
YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A CAPSULE WARDROBE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO AND STILL WELL DRESSED.
In style consulting, the 'capsule wardrobe' method, where you have to have a few basic pieces such as dark jeans, a white shirt, a trench coat and so on, is a bit rigid when we are talking about bodies, cultural background, nationality and personal taste.
That's why I believe that a Smart Wardrobe is a healthy and enjoyable way to deal with your clothes and accessories. This doesn't mean that you can't have the items that are massively considered basic, such as those mentioned above. The idea is that you 'replace' your basics with essentials according to your image and interests, and also have items that I like to call 'interesting' because they are the elements that stand out and enhance your look.
For example, in my wardrobe, the basics that work are A-line midi skirts, cotton T-shirts and small bags. And the interesting pieces that elevate any look are my shoes, accessories and also the colours and textures of each piece that combine to create creative, non-obvious styling.
I will teach you all this in my Style Consultation and together we will define your identity and style signature according to your desires and goals. To find out more, join the waiting list for an appointment in June or visit my website to find out more about the services and prices on offer.
Through a no-obligation conversation I can identify the best visual proposal for you and guide you through the process, which can take a few hours or few months, depending on the consultancy plan you choose.
It may not be a statement of style, but the click is a step in the fashion direction:
✨One of my favourite looks from the Cannes red carpet: vintage Saint Laurent dress
✨A perfume recommendation for Bridgerton fans. It reminds me of the flowery fields and romantic characters in the series.
✨A placemat that will make your spring table even more special.
